Welcome to Sveaviken Bostad. We want to offer our tenants a better home at a reasonable rent, without compromising on important values such as quality, architecture, and design. We value the environment and sustainability as well as high-quality and reliable property management. With a focus on the customer, we not only want to create housing, but also contribute to a better society.
HOME BUILDER OF THE FUTURE
Sveaviken Bostad is part of the SIBS Group. SIBS was started in 2016 with the ambition of revolutionising the construction industry. It is now the Nordic region’s fastest growing home builder. The entire integrated value chain can be found within the Group – from design and production in its proprietary building system and factory, to long-term property management in Sveaviken Bostad. The company has to date developed close to 600 rental apartments and aims to build approximately 1,000 new high-quality homes in attractive cities in Sweden each year. SIBS’s stated ambition is to become the Nordic region’s most sustainable home builder.
“By using a large proportion of recycled materials and building homes that can be dismantled, moved, and used again, we build in a circular way – for real.”
We are engaged in our first housing project in Helsingborg, where we’re constructing rental apartment buildings in the Gåsebäck district. For us, H22 is a great arena for working with the city to transform Gåsebäck from an industrial area into a vibrant district where people want to live.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
By building high-quality rental housing at reasonable prices, we are part of developing both Helsingborg and other cities by providing more a favourable living situation. In Helsingborg, we are launching our new concept Rehouse, enabling us to build moveable apartment buildings.
What challenges does your organisation aim to solve within the context of the H22 initiative?
Today it often takes ten years from starting the transformation of an industrial area until the first apartments are ready for people to move in. At the same time, 207 of the country’s 290 municipalities have a housing shortage. We are taking on this challenge by building high-quality sustainable apartment buildings on a temporary building permit. Our ambition is to go from project start to moving in within one year. By physically starting the build in Gåsebäck, we become an important part of the transformation from an industrial area.
The extraction of raw materials and the production of construction products have a major impact on the climate. The frame of a building lasts for several generations, far into the future where we don’t know where or how people will want to live. Unfortunately, many buildings today are demolished not because they are obsolete, but because they are no longer the right building in the right place. What’s worse is that during the demolition, it’s difficult to separate different building materials from each other, whereby the building materials are seldom reused for more than just filling mass and energy. By using a large proportion of recycled materials and building homes that can be dismantled, moved, and used again, we build in a circular way – for real. Depending on the level of wear and tear and future needs, the facade and installations can be kept or replaced in conjunction with the move.
In what way can Helsingborg be used as a test bed for your organisation and innovations?
Helsingborg is an innovative city where many people want to live. It is therefore a perfect place for us to launch our concept here – high-quality homes in moveable buildings.
