Greater Copenhagen is a collaborative organisation promoting growth and development in the largest Nordic metropolitan region, encompassing 4.4 million citizens in Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark. Through alliances, lobbying and pilot projects we are building the foundation for future growth and welfare. Our goal is clear: Greater Copenhagen will be a global hub for growth, sustainable solutions, and innovation.
Our work to achieve this goal is anchored in partnerships, which we see as the key to development and innovation in Greater Copenhagen’s 85 municipalities and 4 regions. We promote cooperation between our members and create alliances at both the regional and international levels, connecting knowledge hubs, businesses, and public institutions.
Greater Copenhagen’s efforts are directed at 5 key areas, which are essential to the framework for our future growth and welfare: Green Transition, Labour Market, Infrastructure, Digitalisation and Life Science.
“Greater Copenhagen will showcase the coolest, best, and most innovative solutions within green, smart, and sustainable urban development from across our metropolis.”
– David Bak, managing director
At Greater Copenhagen, we work to ensure the development and growth of our metropolis. Among other things, to ensure that the metropolitan area becomes a world leader in green, smart, and sustainable solutions for urban development, which synchs well with what H22 stands for. Greater Copenhagen naturally wants to be involved in the event of the year for smart and sustainable cities, especially when it’s taking place in the heart of our own metropolis!
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
During H22 City Expo, Greater Copenhagen will showcase the coolest, best, and most innovative solutions within green, smart, and sustainable urban development from across our metropolis. We want to give these solutions an extra boost so that more cities around the world can put them to use. But we also want to show that Greater Copenhagen has a perfect geographical profile for developing new and cool ideas. Our hope is to be able to inspire more people to think outside the box, try new ideas, and inspire and include more individuals and actors so as to give more ideas the chance to blossom.
What challenges does your organisation aim to solve within the context of the H22 initiative?
We have two challenges we want to focus on through our H22 involvement. The first challenge we are committing to during H22 is to help local innovative solutions get established in new cities and countries. The second challenge involves sparking curiosity and engagement surrounding commercialisation in the public sector so that more innovative solutions can bring joy to more people.
In what way can Helsingborg be used as a test bed for your organisation and innovations?
H22 will attract visitors from around the world to gather in Helsingborg. This is a golden opportunity that we at Greater Copenhagen aim to take advantage of in order to scale up innovative solutions from our metropolis for use in new cities and countries. We will also use H22 to create a meeting place where actors who don’t usually engage with each other can meet to exchange ideas and solutions linked to innovation, scale-up, and commercialisation.
