Region Skåne exists so that everyone living in Skåne can experience health and hope in the future. Through boundless collaboration and care, the best conditions are created for a healthy life in Skåne – within industry, public transport, culture, and healthcare. Together we make life more possible.
Region Skåne is for those who live and work in Skåne. Our organisation is based on a high level of service and sustainable development. We work to ensure efficient healthcare services and public transport, innovative regional development, and a rich cultural experience.
We are mandated by the region’s residents to develop Skåne. Our mission is to define and drive regional development issues and lead the way as a coherent voice for Skåne. Together with municipalities, educational actors, authorities, businesses, and the non-profit sector, we pursue regional issues at a national and international level. Comprehensive social initiatives take time to plan and implement. We investigate and analyse in order to be able to make informed decisions. We listen and gather stakeholders. We prioritise and carry out initiatives that make a difference for Skåne. We dare to try new things and we evaluate the results. Together with Skåne’s development actors, we drive development forward. Because life in Skåne shall be good – today and in the future.
“In order for the people of Skåne to thrive and be able to live a healthy life, this requires not only accessible and quality care, but also good living conditions and good life habits. Region Skåne creates conditions for an innovative and connected Skåne, with the right competence and where you can live with good health in a good environment.”
– Ulrika Geeraedts, Director of Regional Development, Region Skåne
With H22 City Expo and the H22 Arena for sustainable societal development, we are creating a platform to shine a spotlight on the challenges that Helsingborg and many other cities have identified. Visitors have an opportunity to meet with us who work within Region Skåne and get to know how we, in our various roles as care provider, event and meeting organiser, development-focused employer, public transport body, societal stakeholder, and tourism coordinator, are instrumental in pushing the development of society.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
Region Skåne’s involvement is about inspiring and presenting how we work with innovative welfare and urban development, and contributing to a better quality of life and a leadership that focuses on successful urban development.
As Region Skåne cannot change the conditions alone, a lot of the work is about facilitating the collaboration between Helsingborg and other municipalities in Skåne, university colleges, universities, businesses, and public authorities. Region Skåne’s mission is to ensure that everyone is pulling in the same direction, which stimulates more sustainable growth and greater innovation power in our region. This means that jobs, housing planning, public transport, and all the rest works better.
A smarter city is a welcoming and attractive place to visit. It is connected so that people and companies from around the world can live and work there. A smarter city has an open mind and welcomes new influences. It has a welfare system that looks at an individual’s needs from a holistic perspective and offers high-quality services that are accessible and equal for all.
In a smarter city, everyone has the possibility of good health and equal opportunities to shape their life according to their own ability and will. Innovation and skills provision ensure high productivity and employment.
When you imagine the city of the future, what do you picture as the most exciting changes?
I see a climate-smart city that really lives up to the set climate objectives, where we use energy in a way that contributes to a better economy, and where we take environmental impact into consideration in everything we do. I see an inner-city with clean air and an outdoor environment that’s pleasant to be in, close to nature and green spaces that encourage physical activity. I want to see a city where the residents are given great opportunities to influence their own health through different health-promoting activities, with support from healthcare services, the city, associations, and other actors.
