“With a clearer focus on social and ecological sustainability, I believe that we can really drive the development of communities and people.”

Why are you choosing to be an H22 partner?
H22 is an important initiative in Sweden, a somewhat new approach to the vital issue of how we develop society, the city, and life in every corner. We have 60 years’ experience in this work, and despite this, we are still as curious about what is waiting around the next corner. We believe that we can contribute with one of the puzzle pieces needed to develop a better society, but we also know that we have a lot to learn from others. We are convinced that H22 is the perfect arena for this essential dialogue.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
There are few issues as important as sustainability. However, for us it’s crucial to focus on the broader meaning of sustainability, where social sustainability also constitutes a vital dimension. With a clearer focus on social and ecological sustainability, I believe that we can really drive the development of communities and people. In the coming years, Helsingborg will be a pivotal location for us, where we are planning to develop one of our most sustainable projects yet. The process and products being developed in this work will then be able to be used in other projects throughout the Nordic region.
What does a smarter city mean to you?
A smarter city for us is not just about exciting technological developments. It is as important to utilise the resources available in and around the city. It is about people, but also input goods. Simply put, it is about working with locally produced resources by utilising the unique offering at hand on the local market. More specifically, it may involve the recycling of materials and shorter transport routes for materials.
When you imagine the city of the future, what do you picture as the most exciting changes?
For us, the city of the future is a place where those living and working there have easier lives. Where the practical elements of everyday life are solved quickly and efficiently. This in turn creates more time for the things we want to do, whatever that may be. The city of the future also creates meeting places where exciting ideas play off each other and new historical achievements are enjoyed.
