“Through digitisation and innovative thinking, new solutions can be created that are not based on old traditional patterns and truths. Such work requires new collaborations, a change in patterns of thought, and courage.”
– Johan Kallin, VD
Why are you choosing to be an H22 partner?
When Helsingborg presented its initiative to develop the smart city of tomorrow, it felt obvious that we would be part of it. Helsingborg is our home ground, and for us as a company, innovation and new ways of thinking are the foundation of our success. In a relatively short period of time, we have become one of Sweden’s leading logistics companies by challenging the industry’s longstanding norms and mindsets, for example, by creating new, more efficient logistics solutions for our customers with a higher degree of automation than existed before.
What challenges does your organisation aim to solve within the context of the H22 initiative?
Demand for resource-efficient product and distribution flows is increasing in pace with the densifying of cities and changing buying patterns. Despite a major shift in trade patterns taking place, many actors still apply the same mindset and working methods as they have done for the past thirty years. The future needs new solutions that make things simpler and more efficient for all parties – seller, carrier, and buyer. This will mean that our shared resources are used more effectively and we’ll create a better society for everyone.
When building the cities of tomorrow, what new forms of cooperation do you think we need?
We see a need to transform traditional trade patterns and roles in the supply chain in order to create new innovative solutions that benefit the modern city. Private sector operators need to cooperate more with each other, and we need more partnerships and projects between public and private actors. We think that pilot projects are a great way to get going quickly and test new models.
In what way do you think H22 can make a difference in these times in which we are living following COVID-19?
COVID-19 has resulted in accelerated e-commerce within most sectors, along with a decrease in traditional trade. This is a taste of the future we expect to see. So it’s an interesting thought experiment to consider how the city and its stakeholders need to adapt to handle this new reality in the long term – the demands this reality places on a new city district, its supply of goods, local services etc.
