“Societal development is becoming more and more complex. It requires close dialogue that leads to an understanding of each other’s operations, both private and public. The key word is together – working together.”
– Johan Svedström, business manager
Why are you choosing to be an H22 partner?
H22 is a major initiative to create a broad collaborative platform for urban development. Many businesses and organisations have the opportunity to display innovative solutions, develop functions together, and inspire further development.
As a property developer, it’s an obvious choice to participate in H22. In addition, we started our business in Helsingborg, so the city is close to our hearts. Here we’ve worked with many different types of projects, such as Radisson BLU and SeaU Helsingborg. And in Oceanhamnen, we’re developing a World Trade Center and Scandic hotel as well as a residential area with apartment buildings and townhouses.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
When we design a place, we focus on the sustainability aspects. It involves integrating many different elements in the planning process. To strengthen social sustainability, we often work with the “mixed city” concept, i.e. mixing offices, homes, hotels, restaurants, and stores in one area. This will be seen in Oceanhamnen in Helsingborg, among other places.
We also strive to optimise resource and energy use in new properties by investing in smart energy systems and environmentally friendly materials. We have, for example, produced a report on how to build energy-efficient hotels and we’re using what we’ve learned in new builds in Oceanhamnen.
We would also like to investigate the ways in which we can utilise the potential of digitisation in properties and entire city districts, to take development one step further. We will be able to offer new digital services to customers and visitors at the properties, but we also want to be able to share information with other property owners and municipal services regarding, for example, the needs of technical maintenance, recycling, and waste management.
What challenges does your organisation aim to solve within the context of the H22 initiative?
We all need to live more sustainably. By collecting information from the operation of the property and sharing this information with customers, other property owners, and the city, we can together work towards this goal. It can involve water and energy consumption, electricity use, ventilation, and the sharing economy in physical or digital form.
When you imagine the city of the future, what do you picture as the most exciting changes?
A city united, characterised by equality and possibilities for development. Where faith in the future, good health, and a thriving environment are obvious elements.
Using smart technology, we can achieve good services, good security, and effective digital infrastructure:
