Michael Lake
Michael Lake is the President and CEO of Leading Cities, a global non-profit with operations in 10 countries. Michael establishes and develops relationships with municipal governments, businesses and universities around the world, creating a global network of partner cities dedicated to implementing urban solutions that effectively address the shared challenges facing 21st-century cities. Michael’s career in public service spans from serving three United States Presidents as Special Assistant for White House Operations and Presidential Advance to serving the former Prime Minister of Ireland as a policy research analyst.
What will Michael talk about?
Michael will be speaking about the expansive impact of smart cities – from social justice, to security, to how cities operate at an overarching governance level. He will be sharing insights on his work to protect cities from cyber-attacks, including his collaboration with the World Economic Forum to develop a foundational policy being launched by the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance. Additionally, he will explore the question, what challenges and opportunities does an innovation ecosystem present and how can city leaders harness its full potential?
