TAIWAN’S DIGITAL MINISTER IN CHARGE OF SOCIAL INNOVATION
Audrey Tang is a software programmer, self-proclaimed anarchist, and a key player in exploring the use of open-source software in promoting democracy. Audrey is known for revitalising the computer languages Perl and Haskell and for building the online spreadsheet system EtherCalc in collaboration with Dan Bricklin.
Audrey has led Taiwan’s first e-Rulemaking project and has also worked as a consultant with Apple on computational linguistics, with Oxford University Press on crowd lexicography, and with Socialtext on social interaction design. In the social sector, Audrey actively contributes to g0v (“gov zero”), a vibrant community that focuses on creating tools for civil society with the motto “fork the government.”
