An innovative city is not solely concerned with technology and gadgets. It also focuses on mobilising the inherent power found within the entire organisation. An innovative city promotes a Dare-Test-Do mindset. It’s about having the insight and awareness that future challenges demand new collaborations across sectors and industries. But above all, it’s about meeting the future with the outlook that nothing is impossible, it just hasn’t been done yet.
In Helsingborg, we have made an important decision. We are going to redefine what a city can be for its residents in the future. We do not believe that tomorrow’s city only does things for its employees, residents, and businesses, we believe it’s about doing things together with them. Achieving this transformation is a journey in itself, and this journey began already in 2012 when the city set its sights on a joint vision that transcended boundaries – Helsingborg 2035. Since then, the innovation work has been ongoing in Helsingborg, and in 2019 a decision was made to further accelerate the city’s work with welfare solutions. Approximately EUR 25 million was allocated for innovation. We call this investment H22.
