Ethnologist, Sweco Measuring safety in public spaces and urban life. Public spaces must be safe, inclusive and accessible for all. We know that the experience of safety in urban environments is subjective, complex, relational, and situational, depending on who you are, where you are, and who you meet – so how can we capture and measure something as multidimensional as safety? Welcome to an interactive workshop with Sweco, where you will have the opportunity to share ideas and practices on how to measure and analyze safety and safety design in public spaces and urban life. We will also address methodological concerns, using key findings from Sweco’s own evaluation of public safety design measures in Helsingborg.
