City Hub Alliance / City of Helsingborg
In the smarter city, technology helps keep us safe. Helsingborg is the world’s first city with life preservers that automatically alert our maintenance team when they’re removed from their posts – thanks to connected magnetic sensors.
When Development Engineer Andreas Hall, who’s working to digitise Helsingborg’s public spaces, realised that magnetic sensors could be the key to success for this project, he scoured the globe and discovered that the right sensor for this job already existed, but in a very unexpected place!
Now we can all rely on lifesaving equipment being there when we need it and go about enjoying our seaside, creeks, and ponds with more peace of mind. It also means that city maintenance replaces missing life preservers more quickly and it reduces the time and driving distance spent monitoring and replacing them. Learn how the technology works or discover the role that an Oregon bike shop plays in making the project possible.
