Why are you choosing to be an H22 partner?
WSP is a part of the business community in Helsingborg and we see Helsingborg as a thoughtful and visionary city. The city is open to new ideas and has the courage to commit and pursue innovation. Not all cities have, for example, a Chief Digital Officer. Through our projects in the city, WSP is very active within the sustainable urban development of Helsingborg and also operates a network within this specific area, where the city, business community, and university collaborate. It feels like a given that we would be an H22 partner as it’s an opportunity to get to know new partners, show our range of expertise, and help to make Helsingborg “Future Ready”.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
WSP is a leading global consulting firm that works with the sustainable development of society. WSP has a unique team of urban planners, analysts, sustainability consultants, and engineers who work within all stages of an urban development project – from the initial planning phase and analysis to development strategy and execution.
The firm thereby has a broad range of expertise within sustainable urban development and extensive experience of both national and international urban development projects. Our experience means we can contribute knowledge on concepts and ideas from other projects and help build a society adapted for today and tomorrow.
In what way can Helsingborg be used as a test bed for your organisation and innovations?
We share our strong focus on sustainability issues and innovation with the City of Helsingborg, and we therefore see Helsingborg as a good partner for implementing innovative solutions in new and ongoing projects in the city.
How is your organisation using the potential of digitisation in the making of a smarter city?
We think it’s important that choosing the digital solution benefits the resident and is not just a “cool system”. WSP has knowledge and experience of being involved from an early stage, which means that we can also act as an advisor when choosing digital systems. There is a huge amount of data being generated in a city today through the actions of the residents. In this digital ecosystem, it can be hard to get your bearings. But thanks to WSP having experience within so many different competence areas, we have the knowledge needed to select relevant data. We also have the possibility of adding external digital archives, in order to design solutions for several different aspects of interest for a smarter city.
Right now we’re already helping the City of Helsingborg in a project concerning the future of lighting and IOT.
