Our knowledge benefits society. One way is innovation, where research leads to new ways of working, methods, processes, services, and products that create value.
This page exists as an archive of the work carried out in connection with Helsingborg's innovation initiative H22 and H22 City Expo, years 2019-2022.
Our knowledge benefits society. One way is innovation, where research leads to new ways of working, methods, processes, services, and products that create value.
Why are you choosing to be an H22 partner?
We are facing major global challenges regarding the environment and climate, health, migration, digitisation and demographic changes. H22 provides a totally unique opportunity to discuss these challenges, and not least, the cities and societies of the future. At Campus Helsingborg, we hope to create a forum for dynamic discussion in which we contribute an academic perspective in collaboration with the business sector and the public.
In what way will your involvement contribute to the development of Helsingborg and other cities?
For Campus Helsingborg, being a part of H22 City Expo is self-evident. During H22, Campus Helsingborg will therefore organise a number of activities under the name Our Future City. The aim is for academia to highlight the subjects discussed within H22 – issues with a bearing on the city and society of the future. At Campus Helsingborg, we have chosen to run a week of seminars, discussions, workshops and conferences. We will also arrange social gatherings and breakfasts where the public will be invited to listen and discuss the city’s place in the future.
What challenges will your organisation solve within the framework of the H22 initiative?
At Campus Helsingborg, curiosity and creativity are mixed with critical thinking through researchers, students, and teaching staff from different disciplines and with different backgrounds working in an interdisciplinary environment. We will apply that culture and mindset in H22. Hopefully, we will be able to create new approaches that can be included in tomorrow’s cities and society.
When you imagine the city of the future, what do you picture as the most exciting changes?
A smooth-running democracy also needs well-informed citizens. We therefore hope to experience a society in which facts, not misinformation, lead the way. We hope that research and fact-based knowledge in the future will continue to contribute to the creation of a society with well-informed citizens. That is what we are working for and look forward to experiencing.
In the development of future cities, what new forms of cooperation do you think will be needed?
We know that boundary-crossing cooperation helps to find solutions for the major issues of the future. That’s why Campus Helsingborg focuses on applied research in close collaborations between city, university, companies and organisations. During H22, we want to strike a blow for interdisciplinarity as well as cooperation between the business sector and research. We all have a lot to learn from each other and in the next few years we will work to open up Campus Helsingborg and show all the terrific research that is going on there. Through innovations and other collaborations, education and research will benefit everyone in society.
“During H22, our ambition is to create an academically-tinged forum for open minds where we can stimulate discussions with breadth and depth. Members of the public will leave our seminars, workshops, and debates with enhanced knowledge and clarity.”
Annika Olsson, rector of Campus Helsingborg
