Sweden\u2019s population is ageing, and good elderly care for those still living at home is more important than ever. This means finding smarter ways to enable more independent living for older people, while also making more time for home care workers to provide the best quality care.<\/p>\n

Helsingborg\u2019s Health and Social Care Department is teaming up with E-drop, a subsidiary of H22 Partner Nowaste Logistics<\/a>, to make the ordering and delivery of groceries and medication as smooth and as easy as possible for residents who need help with these tasks. An app allows home care staff \u2013 or the residents themselves \u2013 to place the orders wherever it suits them. The deliveries are then dropped off at E-drop\u2019s revolutionary delivery lockers, equipped with an innovative cooling system. As part of a project initiated in October 2020, twenty of these lockers have been set up close to the homes of individuals in this target group living in Helsingborg. This means that home care staff don\u2019t have to plan their day around doing the shopping and taking in deliveries, but instead can let the care needs of residents set the schedule for the day!<\/p>\n

With the pandemic posing a particular threat to the elderly, this project is finding a way to reduce the risk of contamination through human contact, while also making sure that people get their medication and supplies when they need it. And this is what innovation is all about. Using technology and smart solutions to put people first. Because in Helsingborg, a smarter city is a more thoughtful city.<\/p>\n
