And what if we could design public spaces for real everyday needs with input from those who know best? The City of Helsingborg is putting democracy in the heart of the urban planning process, with an app that\u2019s bridging the gap between vision and reality.<\/p>\n With support from Sweden\u2019s innovation agency Vinnova, the City Planning Department is working with partners to develop this innovative app. Stadslabbet, or The City Lab, will use Augmented Reality so that city residents can play an active role in co-creating urban spaces. This is part of Helsingborg\u2019s focused efforts to make dialogue with residents a driving force in developing a smarter city \u2013 all with the aim of improving life for everyone living and working there.<\/p>\n Using the app, you\u2019ll be able to view a location through your phone camera, where digital, realistic-looking elements are layered on top to give you a clear idea of how things will look according to the city\u2019s plans. And then it\u2019s time to make your voice heard! How are these spaces actually used by you and your neighbours? Would the benches make more sense over in the other corner? How about a wind shelter for the group of pensioners who come have lunch in the park every day? The app\u2019s features will let you move the digital elements around, post your own opinions, and read the views and info of other users and decision makers. By ranking proposals, everyone who calls the city their home will be able to influence the design and look of tomorrow\u2019s Helsingborg.<\/p>\n The aim is to roll out the first version of the app in time for H22 City Expo and co-create the main square of the Drottningh\u00f6g district together with residents, visitors, and a range of other stakeholders.
