Every fire is a story. This is the starting point for a remarkable initiative called Safe Skills, a three-year project conceived by Fire and Rescue Service Sk\u00e5ne Northwest (RSNV). The stories of young people themselves \u2013 when they felt unsafe, were involved in a fire, got too drunk, were bullied, or followed on the way home \u2013 these will be the basis for an exhibition that will pop up in empty apartments in different areas of Helsingborg.<\/p>\n

RSNV is working with students from the Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design to create an interactive art experience that will use these stories and cover seven identified risks: fire, group pressure\/bullying, unsafe environments, drugs\/alcohol, social media, crime, and mental ill health. Instead of fire being the tragic end result of various risk factors, fire will be used as the beginning of a conversation about the risks that young people deal with in their everyday lives. To really know what safety means, they need to see how stories \u2013 their stories \u2013 unfold in an environment that paints a bigger picture. And this is the ambition of Safe Skills!<\/p>\n

With funding from the Swedish Inheritance Fund, the project is aimed at secondary school pupils aged 12-16 living in the Sk\u00e5ne region of southern Sweden. These young people are invited to submit a story or poem on the topics above to wordskills@rsnv.se<\/a>, a competition to help build a relevant experience. Safe Skills will run from Sep 2021-Sep 2023 and have an official launch during H22 City Expo in Helsingborg in the summer of 2022, with the goal of touring the country.<\/p>\n

Safe Skills is looking to hire pupils aged 12-16 in Helsingborg as hosts\/guides for the exhibition. And residents of all ages are encouraged to volunteer in this exciting project. Get involved in safeguarding the future!<\/p>\n
