Feeling your stress levels rise as you pass the same spot again and again. And what about the damage being done to the environment in a time when most vehicles still run on fossil fuel? Well, Smarter City Lab is looking to artificial intelligence for a solution \u2013 an AI algorithm that predicts where parking spaces will be available at any time. How is this even possible, you ask? Well the answer is quite simple: data.<\/p>\n The City of Helsingborg is creating a data lab and data factory \u2013 Smarter City Lab \u2013 that will be a national resource for AI applications in a smart city. This is a cross-sectoral data factory open to other cities and the public sector, businesses, academia, and residents. Its goal is to provide infrastructure and architecture for handling different datasets along with tools and expertise within AI. Based on the idea of \u201cthe digital sharing economy\u201d, the architecture will be defined by openness, scalability, and applicability. In other words, other cities and partners will have access and the journey from idea to everyday use will be much shorter. And judging by the fantastic results of the AI algorithm so far, it won\u2019t be long before you know exactly where to park before you even get there.<\/p>\n The initiative receives funding from Sweden\u2019s Innovation Agency\u00a0Vinnova<\/a>\u00a0and the lab will initially be located at\u00a0Hbg Works<\/a>, Sweden\u2019s first municipal innovation hub.
